Description

New Mexico, South Monticello Campground, Elephant Butte Lake State Park is located 4 miles off Interstate-25. 

Directions:

Southbound on Interstate-25, Near Truth or Consequences take Martin Ranch Road.  Follow Martian Ranch Road for approximately 5 miles and it bends and changes to Lake Shore Road.  Take the next left turn onto Monticello Road.  After approximately one mile the campground entrance will be on the right side.

Note: In addition to the route detailed above, there are several additional access roads into the park.

South Monticello Campground is open all year with 50 RV or tent camp spots.  Seven camp spots are pull-a-round sites primarily for RV's.  The campground has limited shade but, shade awnings are provided at every spot.  Camp roads are all paved.  There is a launch ramp near the campground however, it is closed when the water level is low.  Restrooms are available in the park.  This is a remote campground without services nearby.  The town of Elephant Butte is located approximately eight miles from the campground.  Elephant Butte has fuel, markets, restaurants, and services available.
