Description
California, South Fork Campground, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. The campground does not have an address therefore, the address used here is a general park address. The Campbase map provided here is accurate for the campgrounds location.
Directions:
South Fork Campground is located 13 miles (21 km) from Highway 198 on South Fork Drive, which turns off in Three Rivers. The campground is situated in the foothills on the South Fork of the Kaweah River at the transition from oaks to evergreens.
Comment
South Fork Campground is open all year with 10 camp sites. Tenting only, NO RV sites.
Potable water available: May 21 until October 15, 2014. No water after: October 15, 2014 until May 2015.
There are three gas stations in the National Park. Kings Canyon Lodge, Hume Lake, and Stony Creek Village. Diesel is available at the last two. The NPS map indicates that fuel is available at Grant Grove Village however, Campbase could not find a gas station at that location. Campbase recommends filling your vehicles fuel tank before entering the National Park.
Dump stations are located at Potwisha, Lodgepole, Princess, and Dorst Creek. There is a $10 fee to dump at some locations.
Bear boxes are provided in every campground in the park. All food must be stored in these boxes unless it's kept out of sight in an RV. Food may not be left out at any time. Additional bear rules and information can be found at the restrooms. Do not feed the bears at any time.
Pets are ok in the campground but not allowed on most trails.
